Many of us lead busy lives with little space to breathe, think, and make choices with clarity. We hold ourselves to unsustainable standards in our careers, relationships and as individuals. We may run from day to day with an anxious stream of thoughts, or float numbly with disconnection and over-scheduling as a way to avoid pain. Sometimes our expectations, goals and circumstances come at the expense of clarity and fulfillment.

I work with individuals & couples to reconnect while understanding how the past impacts present living. We collaborate to build a foundation of skills that promote healing as individuals and within relationships. My approach is grounded in human capacity for growth using a humanistic and strength based approach. I incorporate these modalities for processing trauma, anxiety, depression, and performance blocks. Therapy should be a collaborative process that provides a safe space to rediscover your strengths, while understanding and creating meaning from experiences, relationships and culture. Integrating our past and present empowers us to become creators of our lives rather than observers. Let’s work together to discover your path towards discovery, accountability and growth.

Life is busy and complex. The constant pressure that we feel to meet our professional obligations, navigate personal relationships and occupy roles are overwhelming.  We set an unsustainable pace that inevitably leaves us anxious, socially disconnected and emotionally depleted. The demands of being a professional, person of color, parent or person navigating a change can become unmanageable.

Therapy is a tool that allows us to develop the skills and ability to engage actively with the world around us. We will work together to examine how your experiences are impacting your life. I provide a deeper understanding of your thoughts, priorities and validate your lived experiences. I'll support you in building a foundation of strategies and skills to promote positive coping. We will work together to gain insight and develop self affirming beliefs.  I look forward to starting this journey with you.

I work hard to meet my clients where they’re at, recognizing that our existence doesn’t happen in a vacuum – our identities have an impact on the way we move through the world and the supports and resources we have access to while we do so. I aim to empower all of my clients, especially those from marginalized communities, to navigate their specific life experiences, heal from trauma, and cultivate courage, all while validating the significance of their identities and experiences.

My clients are the experts of their own experience, and my goal is to ensure that every client feels seen, heard, and valued in our therapeutic journey. I am deeply passionate about making therapy accessible to everyone, irrespective of their socioeconomic status, as I firmly believe that mental health support should be a fundamental right, not a privilege.

In her writings, Georgia O’Keefe reflected that “to see takes time.” For many, sitting with ourselves and our hopes, worries, desires, and struggles can be deeply uncomfortable and even confusing without support. Anxiety, depression, challenges related to neurodiversity and/or disability, and trauma can make the first steps even harder. Whether you’ve been considering therapy for a while, or you feel like you’ve suddenly hit a wall, I believe everyone comes to therapy with a desire to see and be seen.

I am trained in trauma-informed care and work towards change from a leftist perspective, with lived experience and deep personal commitment to intersectional practice, Black Lives Matter, a free Palestine, anti-capitalism, police abolition, disability advocacy, harm reduction, and queer liberation, among many other issues impacting all of us. As a lesbian, neurodivergent, disabled therapist myself, I feel strongly that therapy is most effective when offered by and for those within marginalized communities, lifting each other up in the process. Throughout every session, I aim to make every client feel seen, secure, and valued.

We all encounter periods of disconnection and unhappiness in life. Difficult relationships, unsatisfying careers, and adjusting to life’s transitions can contribute to these feelings. For many, harmful coping mechanisms develop in response to these challenges, exacerbating feelings of despair and loss of control.

However, times of suffering can also serve as invitations to let go of limiting beliefs and ineffective coping strategies in order to become the person we aspire to be. With nearly a decade of experience working with survivors of intimate partner violence and trauma, I am especially interested in helping untangle the complex feelings of shame and stigma associated with all forms of abuse, as well as issues of addiction, substance use, body size, and intersecting identities.

My therapeutic approach is relational, trauma-informed, and centered on inherent resilience and self-determination. Regardless of the reason you have arrived here, I am committed to creating an inclusive space that is free of judgment to explore new insights, cultivate self-awareness, and discover your authentic self.

Taking the courageous step to begin therapy, whether for yourself or your child, is a significant moment. Building a new relationship and sharing vulnerable moments of your life is never an easy task, and I am honored by each one of my clients for the opportunity to support them on their journey. During the phase of adolescence through our young adulthood, we are faced with new information about our emotions and inner worlds on what sometimes feels like a daily basis. This time of life is often a fast paced, changing roller coaster during which we build the foundations of our self-esteem, values, and future.

As a therapist, I am empathetic, trauma-informed, and welcoming to all in my sessions. I am trained in a relational and psychodynamic approach to counseling supported with DBT, CBT, and ADHD informed skills and coping strategies. I often utilize art, nature, and play therapy activities in session and believe in the importance of joy and mindfulness for people of all ages. I specialize in working with youth in middle and high school on handling the many challenges of this difficult life phase, as well as young adults in their 20s navigating the new experiences of college, first jobs, and launching into their adult lives.

Curiosity leads my work. With my clients, I seek to co-create a space to explore their joys and struggles. My clinical interests include sexuality and gender identity development, self-worth expansion, mending relationships with others and with ourselves, understanding anxiety, depression, and personal values. I come from a person-centered, strength-based and existential framework. I practice queer, kink, and poly affirming counseling.

Authenticity and humor are central to my approach I work from the perspective that clients are the experts in their own lives and view our time together as an invitation to harness and learn from that expertise. I believe that through unconditional positive regard and empathic understanding, a client, with the support of a counselor, can find their personal and unique strengths. My goal is to prioritize the client’s experience and empower them in their choices. I hope to facilitate self-awareness and an understanding of interactions with others and society at large

Positive and loving relationships are vital for health and well-being, and my primary goal as a therapist is to create space for my clients to feel safe and welcome to explore their thoughts, hopes and dreams, and ultimately to become the best versions of themselves. I am particularly passionate about supporting those who are exploring gender identity and or sexuality, and those who are thinking about or wanting to transition.

My life experience has also led me to have experience in holistic well-being, anxiety disorders, grief, chronic illness, and spirituality. My background working in school systems lends experience working to support students with unique needs, and I often find myself advocating for students in the school setting.

Working with individuals, couples, families and a combination there of, my methods are strength-based, goal driven and solution-focused and I often assign homework in between sessions. I look forward to getting to know you and offering whatever tools I can to help you achieve your goals.

Life is the process of forging a fable. Sometimes, we may experience distressing events, encounter epic challenges, and struggle to balance the demands of life’s complexities with the expectations to which we are measured against. Through these hills and valleys, surges and stagnancies, we are often left feeling exhausted, hollow, frustrated, and alone; we’re left feeling that we are NPCs or even antagonists within our own tales. Therapy offers the ability to underscore your strengths, create new chapters, and re-center you as the protagonist.
